After graduation from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, Dr. Strauss enrolled in dental school at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now known as Rutgers University). Dr. Strauss completed a 6-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey, which is part of the Rutgers University Health Care System. He was elected Chief Resident during his final year.
He has extensive experience in dentoalveolar surgery, office-based anesthesia, dental implants and related bone grafting, facial trauma and reconstruction, oral and maxillofacial pathology, and cleft lip and palate repair. He is a member of the Carolina Cleft Lip and Palate Team. Dr. Strauss has organized and participated in an international outreach to Guayaquil, Ecuador, for the treatment of children with cleft lips and palates with Healing the Children.
Dr. Strauss is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) and is currently on staff at Roper-St. Francis Hospital System and East Cooper Hospital. He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), the Southeastern Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (SSOMS), the South Carolina Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Dental Association (ADA). Dr. Strauss lives in Mount Pleasant, SC with his wife and three children. When not practicing oral surgery, he enjoys golf and fishing with his family and has interests in cooking and wine.
